About “should we heal?” and the idea that life’s dramas are pre-planned or destined or whatever: there is an idea that I first read in a book of Thorwald Dethlefsen, and found true in my own life, and subsequently made a key part of my “Life Lessons” concept. It is that we are ALWAYS learning, whatever else we are doing – but we can learn ACTIVELY or PASSIVELY.

I have observed that as long as I am learning ACTIVELY – taking the bull by the horns, tackling any problem that presents itself both in the physical and mental/spiritual arena, studying, practicing, engaging in the battle -, the universe works with me and provides me with opportunities, chances, help and helpers, resources, connections etc. I am playing the script I am actively writing, I am providing the cues, and the universe cooperates.

PASSIVE learning happens when we don’t do this. We sit back on our imaginary couch and wait what happens, while life keeps serving chunks of learning to our imaginary coffee table. In this case, the universe is busy writing the script and providing the cues, and we have to deal with what we are being confronted with. It’s sink or swim!

This is the difference between active and passive learning. In any event of passive learning there is always the chance and invitation to switch mode and become active learners. It often happens when the situation is raising our necessity level: many cancer patients have become active learners by starting to study nutrition and alternative healing methods, while others succumb by remaining passive, trusting a medical profession that shouldn’t really be trusted – just one example of many.

This example demonstrates how many of the situations life serves to our table are about how things do NOT work. The cancer patients who succumb just got taught a lesson of how something (mainstream diet, mainstream medicine…) does NOT work. Sadly, the lesson is also about how it does NOT always work to trust authority – parents, teachers, our whole culture. Trust must be earned – it is a hard lesson to learn to scrutinize who can be trusted – but it helps to grow up from a child into a mature adult. Is it not cruel to learn this by getting cancer? Physically and subjectively, certainly yes. For an immortal spirit – it is still cruel, but the next chance will follow for sure, and maybe the person who then incarnates will do so with sharper mental skills and a higher level of responsibility for themselves and others.

In my piloting sessions I often hear this troubled question “Why is this happening to me?” – be it in relationships, work, etc. etc. I experienced it myself in my upbringing and my second marriage. Both were troubled in a way that seemed vastly unfair and undeserved at the time. But now I see such situations as life giving me an illustration of how things do NOT work – that makes it easier to understand things and formulate my visions for the future in a way that DOES work – the one most essential thing to do – since our visions are the primary seed around which the physical universe crystallizes into the scenery and events of upcoming realities.
